Dia De Los Muertos

Dia De Los Muertos, or “Day of the Dead,” is a multi-day, traditional Mexican holiday celebrating ancestors and loved ones who’ve passed. This is not a day of sadness, but a day where the dead come alive to celebrate with family and friends, and to come together support one another’s spiritual journeys.

Join us this October 5 – November 1, 2020, along with BreckCreate, for an expanded, month-long celebration including partnerships with a host of restaurants and community organizations. In keeping with cultural tradition, a number of temporary ofrendas (altars) will be installed around the Town of Breckenridge, and many local restaurants have created unique menus that reflect the values and traditions of Dia de los Muertos.

Town-Wide Ofrendas (altars)

In keeping with cultural tradition, a number of temporary ofrendas (altars) will be installed around the Town of Breckenridge.

BreckCreate Cultural Activities

Location: Breckenridge Riverwalk Center
Time: 11:00am – 3:00pm

On October 24th, BreckCreate invites the community to experience intimate performances and cultural activities in the Riverwalk Center in downtown Breckenridge, including storytelling, traditional Aztec dancing, and an ofrenda-making demonstration. Space will be limited and offered on a first-come first-served basis to allow for social distancing. Activities and performances will each run approximately 30 – 40 minutes, and young guests will be encouraged to take a Día de los Muertos craft project to make at home.
